Jesus began His ministry with a marriage, and our eternity begins with a marriage feast. Marriage is divinely structured by God for our societal benefit. Marriage is ordained by God because it is a ministry to the family. Marriage is a reflection of God, in our relationship with Jesus, who gave all He had for our sake. God changes not (Malachi 3:6), let marriage therefore be held in honor unchanged, something as old as time itself, and something as new as a young couple made ready at the alter before our Lord.

But, dad, why then does one not continue to be married when they die? How come marriage doesn't continue into the after life, why is it only an earthly thing?
ReplyDeleteA blessing God gives to people so as not to go through life alone.
"Something borrowed" an item from a happily married friend or family member...their good fortune in marriage may carry over to the new bride. The borrowed item also reminds the bride that she can depend on her friends and family.
ReplyDelete"Something Blue" a color connected to weddings for centuries. In ancient Rome, brides wore blue to symbolize love, modesty, and fidelity. The Virgin Mary is dressed in blue so as to show her purity. Before the late 19th century, blue was a popular color for wedding gowns.
