The Might and Power of the Spirit

Zechariah 4: 5-6
Then the angel that talked with me answered and said unto me, Knowest thou not what these be ? And I said, No my Lord
Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.

John 18: 11
Then said Jesus unto Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath: the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?

Matthew 26: 53
Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels?

Psalm 17: 8
Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,...

Psalm 57: 1
Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast.

Isaiah 40: 31
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Exodus 19:4
Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto myself.

~MEEKNESS IN THE SPIRIT OF GOD~
We are a proud people, who are independent and self reliant. Our personal and national strength have carried us through the centuries. We have taken matters into our own hands, fought our great wars, and earned our freedom. We live in peace, in a land of unwalled cities, secure in knowing that our strength has made it so.... or has it.

Our ways are in fact, disobedient. Yet, God's wings, not ours, have covered this people. Of ourselves, we can do little, our very breath is His gift to us and not of our own doing. (Isaiah 10:17) And the light of Israel shall be for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame.

Today's footprint... in God we are light and we can do all things through Christ the flame, who strengthens us. But left to our own strength.... without the flame, the light goes out.... perish the thought.

  1. Watching the birds, and here, this eagle... makes me think of the incredible strength that they have within themselves. This week, I saw the smallest birds fly in the face of strong winds... God has given them the means to face whatever obstacle comes their way. Strength for their journey... their daily bread too.
I pray for my daily bread...what I need for the day. Blessings always ~

  2. Really beautiful devotional dad. Sometimes it is hard not to rely on our own strength and trust in God. Your post reminds me of a picture you guys had in the downstairs bathroom. It was a photo of a bunny and underneath it said "nothing is going to happen to me today, that you and I Lord, can't handle. =)
